Conwy Folk Club

Clwb Gwerin Conwy Folk Club

began in 1966 and their aim has remained unchanged throughout the years: to provide a relaxed venue which is free to enter on a singers night. Where the experienced and the beginner alike can feel comfortable and at home, and come and perform and enjoy live music.

The Record Journal try to get to Conwy particularly on Guest Nights.  The club is held at the British Legion in the centre of conwy and has an evening every Monday.  They hold a number of guest nights over the year.  We went to see Lucy Ward only two days before she won the Horizon Award at the Radio 2 Folk Awards in Salford Quays.

There is no resident band at Conwy but the floor singers, turning up pretty regularly, are a mix of folk, blues and other.   It’s a really friendly club, who have always been welcoming, and have been intent recently in growing the Guest Nights.

We went to see Belshazzar’s Feast recently at the club.  The legion venue is quite a large room – but it was packed!

Opening times: The Folk Club meets every Monday. Doors open at 08:00pm and Music starts around 8:30pm. There's no entrance fee, but a prize raffle is held.
