Hello 2013!

Posted 28 Jan 2013 in NEWS by LAWRENCE

First of all

we would like to thank everyone who has supported our gigs since we started back in 2009, and also for supporting our Folk at the Hall festival in June 2012. The most recent gig with Roddy Woomble, in November 2012, was truly amazing.

Finishing 2012……

We finished off 2012 with a trip to Chester Folk Club (The Raven) for its Christmas party, and had the pleasure to hear for the first time a couple of songs from Chris Algar, who sang one of our favourite songs Ewan MacColl’s ‘Go, Move, Shift’ which we most recall from Christy Moore’s version.

Greg Russell and Ciaran Algar finished the evening in style. We were pleased to see Ciaran put on a santa hat and folky sweater – the spirit of Christmas and folk music are clearly well and truly alive. Thanks to all at The Raven.

Starting 2013……

(away gigs)

Last year we were fortunate enough to visit the Folk Awards in Salford. This year we travel to Glasgow, Celtic Connections, and the 2013 Folk Awards. 2012’s rollercoaster of a year saw Greg Russell & Ciaran Algar make it through to the final ten in the young folk category.

We were lucky enough to see them at Kendal, where their impressive performance saw them through to the final four. We are all so excited, and wish them every best wishes and congratulations, as, now, nominees in this category. Fingers crossed. We’ll be spending a few days at Celtic Connections and couldn’t resist booking for Karine Polwart, and Bellowhead (of course).

(home gigs)

Back home, at Trelawnyd, we start the year off with a bang. First up, on February 15, are KAN, soon followed by Jon Boden & The Remnant Kings on March 9. These will be two stunning gigs, and we urge you not to miss them!

Please note that we always try to have local support at our shows. We are proud to advise that supporting KAN will be The Jaywalkers, and supporting Jon Boden will be The Goat Roper Rodeo Band.

…. and Folk at the Hall 2013

We are excited to tell you that Folk at the Hall will return this year. We had such a fantastic time last year; we were always going to be up for a return. The date will be different, and we are awaiting some final confirmations before releasing the line up to you. We are nearly there and expect to be putting this up at around the end of January, beginning of February.

Finally ……

We wish you a very happy 2013, and hope to see in Glasgow or Trelawnyd!
